Ambitious about Autism (TreeHouse School) Case Study

Contract Term: 3 years
Contract Value: 600k

TreeHouse is an innovative charitable trust serving autistic children and their families, based in a newly constructed sustainable building in Muswell Hill, London.

A small on-site team from Freidman works closely with the TreeHouse organisation to maintain a highly innovative and sustainable purpose built facility, which was opened in 2008 by then Minister for Education, Ed Balls and Arsenal FC manager, Arsene Wenger.

The site in Woodside Avenue houses the TreeHouse School, the Pears Centre for Autism Education and the national TreeHouse autism education charity. The trust itself is involved with education for children on the autistic spectrum; support for families with autistic children; a research arm; training for teachers in educating autistic children; as well as briefing decision influencers, including Government Ministers; advising organisers of other similar projects both in the UK and overseas; and raising awareness of autism in the general public.

The school currently serves 80 children with learning disabilities on the autistic spectrum, between the ages of four and 16, with provision for up to 19 years of age. Around 150 teaching and support staff also work in the school, with a further 50 members of staff making up the team of the trust, whose offices are also housed here.

The centre comprises flexible use spaces, classrooms, quiet rooms, common rooms, speech and occupational therapy rooms, a music room which also provides a dining room, school hall/gymnasium, an IT learning centre, training kitchens for pupils, training rooms for teaching staff, as well as the offices of the trust.

Freidman provides a complete facilities management service. Services include:
